In the UK the Prime Minister (nearest we've got to president) can as long as their party wins the next election stay in office for as long as their party wants them to. It's not a public vote; the party in power chooses the prime minister.
The only way to be sure of geting rid of them is at the next election vote in an opposing party. Is this the case in the USA? I've read that no matter how good a president is, under normal circumstances he or she cannot hold office for more than 2 consequitive terms.
